Great modern Jeep for very little money


The redesigned WJ series Grand Cherokee shared just 127 parts with its predecessor. The structure was stiffened by Porsche Engineering for sharper steering and lighter weight. The spare tire was relocated from the side of the cargo compartment to under the floor. This is a truly modern car with a modern engine and up to date styling.

The engine is Chrysler 4.7 Litre PowerTech. With a bore of 3.66 in (93 mm) and a stroke of 3.405 in (86.5 mm). It has a cast iron block and aluminium "almost Hemi" heads with two valves per cylinder. It uses a chain-driven overhead camshaft. It produces produced 235 hp (175 kW) and 295 ft·lbf (400 N·m) of torque.

Infinity Gold Stereo with, new larger tweeters, front door speakers changed from 6.75" round to 6x9" oval, rear door speakers from 6.75" round to 6.5" round.

Dual climate control. Set the desired temperature on the dash and your side of the car is maintained at the desired temperature. HVAC improvements, with new floor ducts, redesigned rear passenger and redesigned rear body/air exhausters (50% improvement in flow through capacity). New defroster system, faster and more uniform coverage. 5° cooler than previous systems. New quieter electric fan. Body sealing greatly improved. The air conditioning is working fine and is very cool.

The gearbox is 4-speed automatic though in theory it is a six speed box. Four ratios used for up-shifts and one separate ratio used for downshifts.
This Grand Cherokee is fitted with the automatic four wheel drive option called Quadra-Drive. With three viscous clutches, and has 4 triple locking differentals

Steering - all-new recalculating-ball design with better low-speed return ability, crisper response, improved driver control and reduced tire wear than the previous model.

Brakes. approx. 25% larger rear swept area than predecessor, enhanced antilock system, reduced pedal pulsation, dual-piston sliding front callipers, improved fade resistance, quieter operation.

Service history upto approx 40K then some stamps missing. Some recent history. Car will have an Oil service before sale.

Big driving lights. Very bright at night.

There are a couple of small scrapes on the bumpers and one or two very small areas where the paint is not perfect. All in all the condition of the car is exceptional for its age. The alloy wheels are showing some very minor signs of corrosion. I have not seen a Jeep that does not have this problem.

No internal faults that I have noticed. The cockpit is tidy and a very pleasant place to be. The heater is temperamental and sometimes will not blow hot.

No mechanical faults that I have noticed. The car runs very well.

The car is HPI clear and has has no Finance outstanding. It is not recorded on the VCAR register.

The car has an MOT until the end of October 2008 and is Taxed. The tax can be transferred at cost.
