Jaguar developed 4.0 Litre AJ-V8 engine developing 290 bhp. Four valves per cylinder, Quad overhead camshafts, sintered fracture split con-rods and 2 plane crankshaft running a heavy duty simplex timing chain.. Fantastic smooth engine with very high torque for relaxed driving. Surprisingly economic. An easy 20 mpg in mixed driving and 30 mpg on the motorway.
