1995 (N) FIAT DUCATO 1.9D

Here's a great little van up for auction, it's an early Ducato SWB van which is in far superior condition to some of the more modern ones on the road... Having only done 116k miles and with just 4 owners since new, it's a lovely little thing that's ready to work and still got bags of life left in it... MOT'd til Sept 2010 and taxed til the end of March next year, it just needs an insurance swap and you're ready to go! Here's a bit more about it:

EXTERIOR:

REALLY nice outside! A small dent behind the rear/driver side wheel, a little ding above the rear light on the same side, the metal on the front o/s wing got folded in when the door opened too far, but all of the above are not really noticeable because it shines fantastically, all original, couple of tiny rust bubbles near rear arches but you have to get up close to see that! Plastics are all great, 3 of the tyres are mostly new, the n/s rear will need replacing soon... but to look at, you'll be very impressed with this little gem visually... Put a private plate on it and you would NEVER guess its age, it seriously is VERY clean and one key opens every door and every handle works flawlessly!

INTERIOR:

Again, REALLY tidy... The seams on the drivers seat have pulled apart a bit, but it's not unsightly and shredded etc. Dashboard is immaculate, along with rubber matting and headlining. All the gauges work and clocks spin correctly, gearstick boot has a split in it but i'm really trying hard now to find faults inside!! Has a nice JVC CD player which works great, heater is brilliant, all the lights (inside & out) work... Rear is boarded out with a small shelf unit on the left, side door works perfectly, has bulkhead partition, walls are boarded and carpet lined, small LED lights illuminate the rear... Bit of oil on the floor but it is otherwise really good.

MECHANICS:

The last owner was a retired mechanic who had the van 6yrs, and stripped BMW engines and for a living, so he personally maintained the van and really well. He said the cambelt was changed at 93k and he did the oil pretty regular too. Starts first time whether hot or cold, usually needs the glow plugs to heat twice when cold but it's very reliable on the key. Gearbox doesn't grind through the syncro's at all!! Amazing i know... However there it a bushing which has come off where the clutch cable and gearbox fork meet, which simply makes the van judder a bit if you pull the clutch out too fast... the clutch itself is fine and bites low down, but you have to feather the release a little bit more than normal... It's literally a rubber bushing/damper according to the mechanic, but the van drives fine without it and once you learn the trick, you have no problems at all. Otherwise it's a very tight van, not rattles bangs etc and does drive brilliantly, never runs hot, has a very small oil leak but doesn't smoke or do anything unusual.

So there you have it, ok, not a new van but given its age, it really hasn't been worked hard and would suit someone who needs a reliable van to do odd jobs in, 8x4 sheets fit perfectly in these vans and they can hold plenty of weight! If you're planning a house move or just want to cart bikes around etc, then these vans are superb... Has a plant style Tow Bar also with electrics that work, so you can haul plant machinery as well as normal trailers etc. V5 is signed off and ready to go, van will drive anywhere so grab yourself a bargain!!
