For auction is for my Daihatsu Fourtrak 2.8tdx which I have owned for over two years, used daily to and fro to work and with occasional towing of a horse box around the local area at weekends. I am currently selling my horse and have no need for a substantial 4x4 any longer. (sorry no swaps).

The engine is a reliable bullet proof 2.8 turbo diesel engine with a smooth gearbox, transfer box, and 4 wheel drive axles with no leaks or drips.

Since I have owned it I have spent a significant amount of money maintaining this car. If you a buying a fourtrak of this mileage be aware that you are most likely facing a similar bill in the next couple of years. The work done to my fourtrak is typical common problems but for the lucky auction winner it is all done! This should see the vehicle prepared for trouble free motoring for a long time to come.

New front discs and pads, Front and rear anti roll bar bushes, Shock absorber bushes front, middle and rear exhaust sections, propshaft UJs, Diesel injectors reconditioned, Cambelt, glow plugs, axle seals, welding of sills, cylinder head gasket, Indicator relays, wiring loom repair, new brake pipes, water temperature sender, horn, battery, refurbished alloy wheels and new tyres plus regular fluids servicing and wheel bearings servicing as per manufacturers recommendations. All work undertaken by professional, qualified mechanics. I would hate to calculate the sum total of this but it is going to be about £1750-2000. So imagine factoring in that if the fourtrak you purchase hasn’t had much maintenance!

This is the more desirable later model with Independent suspension.  It is also the TDX model with the full central locking, electric windows, sunroof, electric mirrors, power steering, alloy wheels, tow bar/electrics. It also has an aftermarket Toad Sterling category 2 engine immobilizer with two sets of keys/fobs.

The vehicle has covered 122,000 miles.  The next Mot is due mid July which iI am confident it will sale through.

Paperwork wise there is the Fourtrack Brochure, Daihatsu Owners manual, supplementary Information booklet, stereo booklet every (9) MOT certificates, warranty and service schedule booklet showing 27 oil changes up to 78,000 miles when the service booklet ran out of space, National Vehicle Security Register, and about two dozen invoices and parts receipts and of course the registration document.

Please remember this is not a new car and you will be getting a bargain. The pictures show she has not yet been cleaned on outside, so pictures are deceiving.  Whoever buys her, she will be cleaned for the new owners

It has a tow bar and electrics fitted which all work as expected in fact I had the Daihatsu dealership rewire all the towing electrics.  Inside there is a recently fitted CD player. The interior is in excellent condition, The front seats are immaculate because they are usually hidden under waterproof covers. Seat covers and footwell trays have been removed for photos but are included.

She pulls like a tank even with a trailer on in fact is is nice to have the reassurance of the weight of the car when braking with heavy loads. Tows a horse box with two 16.3’s beautifully and allows drivers of all experience and ability to tow confidently. Rated for a 3500kg trailer.

Mechanically she runs and drives beautifully and although it is a 2.8 TD it is very economical for the size of engine. (32mpg when new) Included in the sale is a box of parts. Namely the rear dickey seats to make it a seven seater. All the necessary bolts are carefully bagged up so it will take 10 minutes and a 12mm socket to place back in. There are also some service items Fanbelts, Air filters, fuel and oil. I bought a batch of each after buying the car to facilitate regular servicing and you can have whatever I have remaining. And a spare rear window wiper motor mechanism as they commonly seize up on Daihatsus and a propshaft UJ. I have a fourtrak catalogue from a parts specialist which lists hundreds of very reasonably priced parts. They are very good and great for service kits. Inside the vehicle is the original jack etc.

Bad Points

The body work has a few scratches, although I think this is to be expected with a vehicle of this type.  They are just general cosmetic scrapes to the bumper and one slight rust bubble on the rear door in the bottom rear corner of the window rubber -about the size of a fifty pence piece please see the photo. No dents,rot or anything more serious though.

Under heavy acceleration she does emit a slight puff of black smoke. But it is the same as when I bought it. It didn’t concern me then as I have driven Fourtraks, Hiluxs and landrovers and for employers before that all did it to no detriment. (one of fourtrak which has been owned from new and has done over 190,000 miles smoked worse that mine after about 80,000 miles!). I did mention it to the Daihatsu dealer last time it was in because I wanted to correct it if possible before selling. The dealer advised that it was normal and nothing to be concerned about. Certainly well within permitted emission levels. But I wanted to mention to it to make the bidder aware.

I have described the fourtrak to the best of my ability outlining the good and the bad points. I’m a firm believer in making sure the auction description is as representative and honest of the fourtrak as possible to ensure that both parties are satisfied with the auction outcome.  I hopefully get a fair price and you get what you pay for without any hidden surprises!   I require a non-refundable £100 paypal payment within 4 hours of the auction ending and the remaining balance in cash on collection. If progress on the auction is slow and i get interest elsewhere i reserve the right to cancel the auction but i will contact the leading bidder at the time to let them know the score.
