Hello... it is with great reluctance that I am having to sell my much loved MR2. Bought initially as an Ebay bargin I made the fatal mistake of falling in love with it by the time i'd driven it home as any of you who have ever driven one will no doubt understand!! Purchased in Aug 2007 from a lady who doubtless loved the car but clearly had no idea how to maintain such a vehicle it has spent around half of the last two years off the road having what ended up as a major overhaul... but now as it is finally 'almost' everything i wanted it to be from the start I have decided to give up living under a roof in place of mobile living, and I'm sure you can see why the Toyota won't lend itself to that lifestyle choice!!! About the car; Imported from Japan the car was first registered in the UK in 1991 giving it an 'H' plate registration. It is a 2.0litre Carb 3GSE engine with an automatic gearbox, the shell is the G-Limted T top body with removable glass roofs supplied with thier original additional linings and storage bags. Not being obsessed by apperance I have not gone mad with bodykits and spoilers but instead decided to make sensible improvements to handling and drivability so the car now benefits from genuine Toyota TRD springs all round and adlustable Koni shocks on the front (The rears are left standard as this makes the car 'Sit down' in tight corners adding greatly to the stability), though not desperate I also replaced the power steering rack recently as I felt the old one had a little too much play in it. The car sits on a very wide set of 17 inch 3 piece split rim alloys but these are currently in need of two new front tyres, i should point out that one of the split rims did suffer quite a bump on a kerb last christmas which has been knocked out and balances fine but a little unsightly if your bothered by such things. Also included in the sale are the original Toyota wheels, or MOT wheels as I call them!! The interior of the car has had its old cloth thrown in place of the part leather/ alcantara seats and door cards, I have also ditched the annoying box mounted between the seats as I always found it awkward to use and in the way when reversing. The windows have had a well applied tint which gives the car a really dark look while not being overdone. The main headunit I have been using is not included in the sale but I will happily leave all of the Infinity speakers in place as they have been tastefully fitted to the car. Ok, here goes... Mechanically the car had a water leak from the thermostat when purchased which after replacement the car ran fine for several months getting me safely to the lake district and back but on a trip to Devon the Head gasket finally went, after a poor attempt at repair by a friend of my dad's, lasting weeks I went to Mr engine.net and purchased a replacement engine which went in lovely, to help protect it I also added a K&N induction kit, a TRD oil filter and some very high spec oil, I also fitted a new water pump and all new belts just to be sure, once back together it became apparant that the heat of the meltdown had also affected something in the gearbox, probably just the torque convertor but since it was all coming back out, back to Mr engine for a whole replacement gearbox (I didn't fancy the prospect of a third go so took no chances!) the car has now covered around 15,000Km (less that 10K miles) on these new parts The brakes are sound all round and didn't even get a mention on the recent MOT and the car now runs like a dream... the only other thing which is needing attention is the speedo cable which has snapped at the gearbox end about 3 weeks ago, the car hasn't moved much in that time due to the MOT and tax being out but it will mean the milage is about 40 miles short (didn't fail the MOT though curoiusly) In addition I have also added a new battery and sorted the annoying problem of trying to get the electric ariel to work with aftermarket stereo's, the car has had a lot of little touches which only make it more user friendly and is fitted with a very serious Cat 1 Clifford alarm (probably too serious for the car to be honest, but hey, at least i know its safe) The reserve price for the car reflects my need to sell not the true value of the car which when you look close, though maybe not a concours model (it is18 years old and built to be driven) is a fantastic little bargain and probaly worth much more in parts, I just don't have the heart to take it appart, I have never driven like a hooligan as I prefer the subtleties of fine driving, hitting apex's and holding lines more that getting there first so there are years left in this low milage car, and being a Toyota, they last anyway. The boring bit, Usual Ebay rules apply, you bid to buy, not haggle or kick tyres, If you bid you are entering into a legal contract as with any auction, I have no problem with new Ebayers bidding, we all have to start somewhere but if your feedback is less than 10 or chequered with negatives then please contact me first as non payers will be pursued, reported to Ebay and deemed liable for any cost's I incur as a result. Paypal, cash, cheques, bankers draft's, gold, platinum or silver all fine but funds will need to clear before the vehicle is released. I have tried to be 100% honest and will continue to do so with any questions you may have. Thanks for taking the time to read my essay and good luck...
