Rover Metro SPI GTi 1991
This car is going to be such a bargain for the winning bidder! Bidding starts at just 99p with No Reserve!
This is my Metro GTi. The power was originally 97BHP, but now I reckon its over 110BHP! The reason for this is that it has a K&N Air Filter, a 'Superchips' superchip and a Janspeed Cat Back exhaust system, the cost of these modifications run into hundreds of pounds. In addition to this the car also has a "turbo" bodykit. I'm not exactly sure that is the Austin Turbo one, but its definitely not standard. It makes the car look a lot lower, although the suspension is standard. Makes this Metro stand out from the crowd. As you can see from the pictures, its not 'over the top'. If you have any questions regarding this car, please please ask.
Good Points
- Starts first time, every time
- The idle, etc is brilliant, its so reliable
- The modifications add power, so makes it great for the track (although never actually used on track)
- 81k miles, with partial service history, few old mot's etc.
- Mechanically great
- Interior condition is good, no rips etc, even smells nice! (non smoker)
- Has a loud air horn
- Tax is cheap, its the lowest band of the older system. I think its £100 a year! For a car of this power.
- No visible rust as yet
Not so good points
- The rear bumper needs fitting on again properly, although its hardly noticeable anyway, its slightly 'out' on one corner.
- The rear dampers need 're-gassing', it has hyrdagas suspension.
- Stupidly lost the alloy wheel key. This can be bought off eBay, and there are various ways them get them off too. The spare is on at the moment.
- The paint is not its best in places, some areas could do with a touch up.
So, basically I think you just need to get the wheels off, and adjust the suspension and it should pass its MOT. I would do it myself, but I really don't have the money at the moment. Inspections, and offers welcome, I'm not hiding anything. Please bear in mind that this car is 15 years old, its not perfect.
Again, any questions, comments please let me know!
I would hate it if someone offered me a 205 GTi, or any convertible! ;-)
Good luck!
On 16-May-08 at 00:53:34 BST, seller added the following information:Some good news!
You get to keep the spotlights that are on the front of the Metro! Its like driving in daylight at all times.
Also, today the door handle decided to fall off. I have already bought a new one, and you just need to fit it, I would say a 10 minute job maximum.
You'll notice in this auction, I've been quite honest about it. I don't mind you coming round to inspect the car. You won't find any other problems with this car, like you will with other cars on ebay. I've bought seven cars off eBay, and they have always had hidden problems, blown head gasket, dodgy suspension etc. This car is what you expect!
