1989 Land Rover 110 CSW V8

Mileage: 137000

Good bits.........

Vehicle has been converted to run on either LPG or petrol. There are two 40litre underslung tanks, which fill from one ‘filler cap’, with an LPG gauge fitted to the dashboard.

Insa Turbo Dakar tyres and wheels new about 4000 miles ago, tons and tons of tread shown in picture. All 4 wheels have tyres in same condition, the spare is a more ‘ordinary’ tye, but still very roadworthy.

Taxed till end of April 2010.

MOT’d till May 2010.

Front seats are from a 2007 model defender. Middle row seats are new from Exmoor trim and have barely been sat on. Rear 3-seaters were replaced with brand new 2-seater bench seats.

Alternator replaced in 2008.

Exhaust was new in 2008.

Car has three 12-volt sockets in the front seat area – see dash picture. These run from the main car battery.

Car has a further three 12-volt sockets in the rear load area, these run off a second marine capacity battery located under the middle row of seats. The 2nd battery runs off a split-charge system – ie it charges when the engine is running, but when you switch the engine off it operates in isolation from the main battery. Great for running the fridge! The 2nd battery is shielded by a purpose-built metal cover, sprayed in black.

She has three additional gauges fitted on top of the dash, oil pressure, volt meter etc.

Car has a SD Card CD playing radio, with additional speakers located either side of the rear door area.

Super-heavy duty mats fitted throughout, purchased purpose-made from a chap on the LR4X4 forum.

Washer pumps, front and rear are brand new and working.

Rear wash-wipe, motor and arm all new in 2008.

CB radio fitted and working, new in 2008.

8 new pistons in the engine in May 2009 (at ridiculous cost!).

Headlamps replaced with halogens, also 100watt driving lamps fitted (see picture).

Two rear work lamps fitted, which work independently of each other and are connec ted to a Carling switch in the dashboard.

Three spare Carling switches fitted to the dash ready for action (if you’re fitting a lightbar etc).

All towbar electrics working.

Very expensive LED stop and tail lights fitted.

All other lights replaced with clear lens covers and coloured indicator bulbs.

Number plates are new.

New cubby box in 2008.

Rear lamp-guard irons fitted.

Rear cross-member replaced in 2008.

Bad bits....

Like most of these older girls a little water gets in through the sunroof when the rain is very heavy and the car is standing in it.  But only a little, and skin is waterproof!

Engine – runs beautifully on petrol, but occasionally will idle higher than I think it should.  I’m sure it just requires tuning or the carburettors balancing. The engine also runs on LPG, and occasionally sputters and coughs a bit after you’ve driven maybe 10 or 20 miles, the LPG system could do with a look at. Again, I think it will just be a tuning exercise for someone more mechanically minded than myself.

Usual rusty door bottoms (you can’t see them, but they’re there!), and a little rust inside the still at the bottom of both front doors.

The heater is rubbish (but there is an auxiliary heater which I’ll throw in to take the chill out of the air!).

So that’s it. I’ve given you the complete lowdown. The old girl was a Balloon Pursuit Vehicle at some time in her past so she knows her way off road. She has a lot of years service left in her I’m sure, and you’re welcome to come and have a look at her to see for yourself. If you have any questions please send them to me or ring me on 07900 414171.

Usual Ebay rules apply of course, and I would ship it to Nigeria if I could find a big enough piece of brown paper and string to wrap it!

£100 deposit by paypal within 24 houts of auction end please and remainder in cash on collection.

Thanks for looking and good luck!
