1987 £1 ENGLISH SILVER PIEDFORT SILVER COIN. The coin was one of a series of £1 coin minted with different reverse sides, this coin has the english oak on the reverse side. This is the first time a complete oak tree has been shown on an english coin. This coin is made of sterling silver (.925). The word piedfort in the title of all english coins means that they are struck on a thicker gauge material. The coin is 22.50mm diameter and weighs 19.00 grams. There was only 15,000 of these coins struck for worldwide distribution. |
