Here is a fantastic brown fronted, Marshall 1959 Re-issue MKII 100W head from 1986!
Serial U35779.
You should notice that the grille on the front is not the usual black that Marshall produced (and still prodcues today), but a fairly limited (or so I'm led to believe) brown/tan colour - and has great vintage vibe.
If you've found this listing then you probably know what you're looking at.
I bought this amp about 2-3 years ago and have to admit it's probably the best amp I've ever owned. It has two channels (non-footswitchable) with hi and lo inputs for each - totalling 4 inputs altogether. Each input provides it's own voice, however IMO most fun can be had from blending the channels with a patch lead.
I used to blend both channels together and got some of the most amazing tone I've ever had. This amp is a fine example of that great clean/crunch breakup when pushed - of the plexi era.
Something I must mention:
The amp did suffer through a power outage about a year ago - and blew it's EL34's. The amp was fixed by the legendary Phil at Pacific Sound in Birmingham (He services the Editors equipment before they tour!). He replaced and biased the EL34's with Electro Harmonix valves and it has been rocking solidly ever since. He also remarked that it had some extremely old Russian pre-amp valves that he daren't touch because they sounded so great and it was probably the best sounding 1959 MKII he'd ever heard, even better than his own.
THIS AMP IS LOUD! Seriously, this amp will blow a hole in your wall if you're not careful. Hotplates/power brake's are a wise choice. This amp has some lovely options on the back panel. It is compatible with 4, 8 and 16 Ohm speaker cabinets - just by turning the dial on the back. It is also compatible with 120, 220 and 240 Volt power outlets - so can be used pretty much anywhere in the world!
Condition-wise - structurally it is a tank. Cosmetically - there are a few areas where tolex has been covered (by previous owner), there is of course the odd scratch/mark/ding as is to be exected for a unit of this age. Please take time to view ALL the pictures I have uploaded. I am not here to catch anyone out and as such I have shown every single angle of this amp.
Sound-wise this thing is a 10 across the board, no ifs or buts.. just 10 out of 10! Check out reviews of this thing..
Reluctant sale, but I no longer need 100 watts, and am trading down to a more bedroom friendly amp. Seriously sad to see this go.
