This is a great little dark blue Mini Mayfair Blue Dwarf, with light blue cloth interior that just needs some TLC and DIY / welding to put it through a fresh MoT, and is offered with a realistic reserve as a restoration project. It is currently on a DVLA Sorn, and has been owned by my friend since 2001, when she had it completely restored and sprayed. It comes with a whole fistful of receipts dating back to the 1980s which suggest (by looking through the old MoTs) that the mileage (118,000) is quite genuine. There is a receipt for the 1100 engine that was fitted in the year 2000, which gives a small increase in power over the original 998 cc `A` series engine.

Throughout its life it was fully serviced, the large amount of receipts reflects this. It has been garaged since failing its MoT in January 2006, with the following failure points:

- n/s headlamp aim

- rear subframe rusty

- n/s and o/s sills rusty (see photos, needs welding)

- one brake pipe rusty

- rear handbrake cable needs replacing.

It still starts up immediately (the battery is fine), having moved it out of the garage to take these photos. The engine does not smoke or get too hot, the clutch and gearbox are quite serviceable with everything working as it should. The missing grille corner pieces are in the boot (one of the pictures shows one laying on the bonnet). The tyres are still pumped up, so there are no slow punctures often evident in old cars.

The car won’t need a complete respray and should polish up fine, but would benefit from local areas of touching up or spraying where there are some blemishes on the bodywork (see photos), including around the headlamps, as is normal on this model. The doors are not sagging and there are no noticeable rattles or squeeks. It still has all its black wheelarch extensions that were standard for this model, plus light blue cloth interior. There are also safety belts fited in the rear.

Looking through the garage receipts for the last three service years of the car, the following jobs have been done:

new throttle cable,
top and bottom ball joints,
brake wheel cylinder and shoes,
front sub frame,
wiper motor and
carb setup plus much more.
