Hi
this is a loveable, classic, car with incredibly low mileage for its 25 years (just under 79000 miles).
As you might expect from a car this age which was regularly used by its second owner, it needs quite a bit of love and attention, both inside and outside. There are small areas of corrosion in various places on the outside. It could also do with a coat of paint, as the surface has turned matt over the years. The driver's seat could do with replacing, as it is ripped on one side. The dashboard lights only work sporadically, I think there is a loose connection somewhere.
Nevertheless it is totally driveable and I am amazed at how little petrol it consumes! I had bought it off a good friend- who used it a lot - who inherited it off his grandmother, who hardly ever used it. I loved driving it but, living in London, i realised I don't do enough of it to make it worth my while, and this is why, after only 10 months I'm selling it on.
Its MOT ran out in February, and it's taken me until now to get myself to sell it.
The road tax is valid until 30th June.
The buyer will have to pick the vehicle up in North London.
Any Golf amateurs out there who are looking for an old lady of a car with a great hardly driven engine?
If you would like more pictures, please let me know and I will send them to you.
If you would like to view the car, this can be arranged too.
You will have to pick the car up yourself, as I cannot arrange for this myself.
There is a 7 day returns policy on this item.
Then here, at no reserve, is your chance to grab a bargain :)
Happy bidding!
On 18-May-08 at 16:12:39 BST, seller added the following information:I have uploaded a couple more pictures - one of the engine (which i meant to do but forgot), one of the battery which is new, and a couple of the kind of scratches and rust that are to be found in a few places. Looking at it again, the rust on the visible outside really isn't dramatic at all, hardly visible. The eyesores are the scratches rather than the rust, but even they are no more than you would expect from a car this age. I hope this helps you decide on whether you may want to bid or not.

I just wanted to add a couple more points to the description which I only thought of as I was asked about them by several watchers.
1) I have added two more pictures of the interior - as you can see the front seat is ripped and very worn. The passenger seat is a bit worn but not torn. The back seats are fine.
Stupidly I didn't exactly clean the inside of the car, so you will see stains on the back of the seat etc, but all this is removable.
2) The alternator and the battery are new, as I had a problem with the battery running flat frequently. This is fine now, and the car starts well, sometimes with a few attempts. The choke needs to be pulled out half way for a while.
3) The brakes are slow, and will probably need new brake pads. I mentioned this to the guy who changed the battery and the alternator, and he said that this car is known for having slow brakes (???), but the pads could definitely do with replacing.
4) The car needs leaded petrol, so you have to add a couple of squirts of lead supplement before filling the tank with lead-free petrol. (I'm leaving the bottle in the car - it lasts a long time!)
5) I was asked by a few people about whether there is any rust anywhere underneath the car, and frankly it is very hard for me to see if there is, as it is not exactly clean and very awkward to get to. I have held my camera underneath it and just fired a few shots and I'm quite happy to send these pictures to you, although i'm not sure they will tell you much.
Again, i hope this helps a little.
