Due to recent illness and the fact that I cannot look after all my bikes the way I like any longer, up for auction here is my excellent condition and now very rare (only 500 made by Meriden) 1983 Triumph Thunderbird in very good running order - MoT to April 2009 and I will put 6 months tax on the bike before the end of the auction. Te clock reads just over 4600 miles, I believe that the actual mileace id a couple of thousand miles higher than this as accorcing to the last owner the clock digits had slipped on the first number - generally from the excellent condition of the frame paintwork I beleive that a mileage of between 4,000 to 8,000 miles is about right.
I bought this bike in August last year as a shed find, complete but a little neglected over the years. I have carried out the following works to help bring the bike up to this lovely condition it is in now:
- New chrome rims and steel spokes for both wheels
- New rear chain and sprockets
- New rear brake shoes
- New front disc, pads, braided hose, master cylinder kit
- New right hand fork stantion and seals
- New plugs and plug caps
- New headlamp, rim and glass
- New pod for ignition and idiot lights, plus new idiot lights
- West coast handlebars, c-clamps and c-clamp bolts, right hand handle bar switch and wiring
- Lovely blue paintwork to petrol tank and side panels
- New exhaust balance pipe and chopper pot silencers - sounds lovely
- New UK seat
- Polished primary chain case, timing and outer gearbox case
- Top end gasket set - bottom end, bores and head checked and appear to be in excellent condition
- Carb deep clean and rebuild
- New rear shocks
- New battery and battery strap
- Engine oil, fork oil and brake fluid all new
Lovely condition bike this, but at the moment I cannot ride right hand gear change bikes so reluctantly it has to go to someone who will ride and look after it - it has been test ridden by a friend to get the MoT with no reported problems - it is ready to ride away.
Not much wrong with this bike, if I were keeping it I would look to change the exhaust downpipes for the original left hand siamese downpipe and also replace the tank cap because the chrome is tarnished. I think this will be a really good buy for the winning bidder, very smooth revy engine, I think in some ways better balanced than the 750s with all the essential work done, low mileage and different - a late Triumph 650!!
Viewing is recommended - the bike is located near Farnham in Surrey. Feel free to e-mail any questions or 'phone me (Mick) on 07720 448885.
All the usual E-bay conditions apply, bike will not be relased until payment is cleard, cash preferred.
Happy bidding.

One of my mates, who is a classic Triumph mechanic, has test ridden it and reckons it is one of the sweetest Triumph he's ridden recently and that I should keep it. Lots of watchers out there, hope this answers this particular question.
