This is the 9th from last MGB every made, chassis number 522293. And i'm told that makes it the 7th from last GT. It was first registered, and delivered, to Lord Montague on 20.3.1981. I have the full service history whilst owned by the Montague family up until 30.7.1999. At which point it had only done 38, 851 miles. Although registered to Lord Montague it was actually his sons car, and he must have had some fun in it as the service history shows that a new engine was fitted on 18.12.1997 after only 36,245 miles. So this engine has only done 27,000 miles and runs perfectly.
The next owner spent considerable money on the vehicle (I have receipts for this), before passing it on to his daughter. I then purchased the vehicle from her on 1.7.2006 with a mileage of 63,561. There is a large folder of paperwork concerning the vehicle, including the origianal delivery paperwork, MOTs, tax discs, receipts and servive history. These show that the vehicle also had the registration number AA14 at some point. This was one of the Montague families private plates.
I completed partial restoration, as you can see from the photographs the bodyshell and panels were all prepared for spraying. It has been in storage under cover for the last 2 years as sadly I have not had the time or space to complete the work myself and would rather the vehicle went to a new owner who will bring this classic British sports car back to its former glory.
As you can see the car is still striped down but all the major parts are present with only a few bits of trim/clips etc, required for a complete rebuild.
This particular car is shown both on the cover and inside the 2005 edition of the Crowood Press book “MGB The Complete Story” by Brian Laban. I will include a copy of this book if you don’t already have one.
