1979 GL1000 KZ

I bought this bike two years ago on a whim, the last of the true naked wings which was produced from April to Sept 1979 before the launch of the GL1100 so it is now quite rare.

The bike has been well looked after and idles at 800 rpm with no noise from inside the engine.

The bike pulls like a train and will easily top 100mph with ease and will then go to 120mph - but I have to admit I have never gone faster than 100mph!

Since owning the bike I have fitted:

Dyna electronic ignition

new coils and leads

new battery

new starter solonoid

new cam belts

new head gaskets

new rear shocks

new sub frame loop

The carbs have been cleaned and balanced

new throttle and clutch cables

new rev counter cable

new braided brake hoses to front brakes

All work carried out by D&R Motorcycles (Hereford)

The bike is nearly 30 years old and cosmetically shows it, I doubt the engine has ever been out of the frame.

It now needs someone with the time to perhaps powder coat the frame and touch up the paintwork.

I have MOT certificates going back to 1998, the mileage on them is:

The bike is taxed and MOT'd till July so the winning bidder can ride it away

please note, I'm still using the bike so the mileage will be closer to 25200.

Oh, and the reason for selling.... I just bought a BMW R1100R (on a whim) and I've been told I can't keep both!
