1978 ROLEX VINTAGE OYSTER PERPETUAL - STEEL SS & 18K GOLD A True Classic - Elegant & Understated - 1 Year Warranty

|
A True Classic - Elegant & Understated - Original - Warranteed
For nearly a century, Rolex watches have been the benchmark for high-grade timepieces, setting the bar through their precision timekeeping and desirability. They are a favorite of CEO's, professional athletes, Hollywood celebrities, and anyone desiring to wear a truly elite wristwatch and are recognized around the world as one of the finest and most expensive watches money can buy.
Today's listing features an exceptional Rolex Oyster Perpetual No Date model #1005 encased in stainless steel. Featuring a clean, simple, understated dial and fluted 18K gold bezel, it embodies discreet elegance.
As precise as it is classic, our gem is powered by the renowned Caliber 1570 movement, the officially certified chronometer mechanism that powered many of the early and very desirable Submariner, Explorer, and GMT models. Essentially a Datejust model without a date display and with a slightly smaller diameter, the Oyster Perpetual clearly demonstrates the qualities associated with Rolex watches: precision, reliability, durability, and class.
We were fortunate to acquire our special Rolex in fine original condition. The watertight Oyster case is in near mint condition. The beautiful, silver dial is in flawless condition and 100% original; the chronometer movement is clean and pristine.
Our master watchmaker has fully serviced the watch which consists of fully disassembling the movement, carefully inspecting each part, replacing any overly worn components, reassembling and lubricating the movement, replacing all of the waterproofing seals with new, genuine Rolex gaskets, and extensive timing testing and regulation (a $395 value). The watch continues to keep perfect time, running with a few seconds per day. Included with the purchase is a full one-year international warranty and a certificate of authenticity.
Note: A published example of a similar watch can be found in Osvaldo Patrizzi's work Rolex, Collecting Wristwatches, 2001 Edition, Guido Mondani editor, Vol. 2, pg. 11.
Also potential bidders may be interested to know that similar vintage Rolexes are currently shown on the wrists of both the men and women models in a recent J. Crew catalog (and available for sale at a premium price through J. Crew). |
