Hillman Hunter Super 1725, 1976. Blue. I bought this car recently intending to strip it and sell for sparesbut its much too good for that. All the normally rotten areas are in great condition. the sills are good inside the door jams are good, the suspention turrets are perfect. It looks too have had new wings as all the wheel arches are really good. Boot, bonnet, and roof are good. Underneath is good but does need patch in drivers foot well as shown, the passenger side rear door has bubbling and a small amount on rear wing, front wing has bubbling where it meets the door. Drivers door is sightly different shade
The bright work is in good condition all round I suspect a lot of it has been replaced, someone has sent a lot of time and money on this car. The bumpers which need tightening up will polish up like new. Has had new old style number plates.
Wheels are Rostyles which need a repaint, as fitted to MG and Sunbeam, which I was going to use on another car. The tyres all have legal tread but want replacing as they are odd and a bit old.
The interior is good, The head linning is not sagging but has two small cuts about an inch which are not obvious, and its filthy. The previous owner was replacing the interior with a good clean cream one. The seats are in and look great The drivers seat has two small splits in the base a good feed would help, all the seats are plump, the door cards are with the car to fit. The back carpets are new but the front need doing and have rubber mats in which look fine. The dash is okay with no splits but the glove box has a nick out of it above the button.
Mechanically, the engine fires up easily even though the fuel in the tank is a year old and there are no nasty noises or exhaust smoke. Has an alloy Holbay rocker cover but I have no idea if its a Holbay engine, any body out there have any engine numbers please? Its running a single solex carb, an uprated coil. Gear box is fine no nasty noises, I only drove the car 10 miles home and as there is a clunk on the passenger side front wheel, I suspect track rod end, it was slow and gentle. The brakes are spongy and will need sorting, but they stopped it. Under the bonnet looks tidy as in pics. Exhaust didnt seam to be blowing. Before I bought the car it was kept in a dry industrial unit and the owner intended to do it up but never got round to it. There was a bottle of additive in the car so I quess its not been sorted for unleaded. Theres some paper work and loads of old mots, and a workshop manual.
Please come and have a look if you want to, this car is not a minter but would be a presentable classic with a bit of work over winter, please give me a ring if you want on 01539625368. This is a 33 year old Hillman and the reserve is set accordingly. Any one with less than 10 feed back please ring me, £100 by paypal at the end of the auction and collection within 7 days.
Thanks for looking Anthony.
