Gasser Fans: Here’s a new one. This very rare drag racing image is an 8" by 10" RC Silver Gelatin Print picturing K. S. "Tiger" Pittman boiling the slicks on his AA/GS Opel. It was captured at Thompson Drag Raceway (Thompson, Ohio) on May 16, 1971 by Professional Motor Sports Photographer Charles Gilchrist. This image lay unprinted in the artists files for 35 years and has just been printed for the very first time. This very rare image is not on the artist’s website. This hand crafted, high quality, print is titled and signed by the artist in black ink. This low resolution Net image can't do this print justice (very sharp).
35 years ago four of these great blown Gassers match raced at Thompson.....(Ohio George Montgomery) (Jr. Thompson) (Steve Korney driving his Stone, Woods, and Cooke Corvette) and (K. S. "Tiger" Pittman). All these guy's were major players in the 1960's and 70's Gasser Wars.
This unusual Gilchrist perspective illustrates a high whinding "Tiger" Burnout. Notice the high wheel speed, really piling up the smoke in front of the wheels. Also notice the crowd lining the fence on the pit side. At that point, AA/GS Cars were running in the mid sevens and approaching 170 MPH. This was a great show and the crowd went nuts! We love Blown Gassers!
We will ship this rare and outstanding print, flat in a secure package, anywhere in the Continental USA for $5.00. Additional charges apply for International Shipping. The reserve is set ridiculously low for this rare hand crafted print. A quality image and a genuine collectible. Thanks for looking! Note: Our Drag Racing Prints are not ordinary photographs snapped by a amateur. They were taken by Professional Motor Sports Photographer Charles Gilchrist in the late 60’s and early 70’s. They are Exhibition Grade RC Silver Gelatin Prints suitable for Matting and Framing; and would look great in any Office/Den, Bar/Game Room, Workshop, Etc. They are each individually hand crafted, and signed by the artist in black ink. At this point in time, very few artists make Silver Prints (especially Drag Racing Silver Prints) and the value of these prints will only increase. These historical images are extremely rare and are true collectibles. Check out the testimonials from our patrons in the feedback forum. Bid with confidence and Good Luck!
