1971 Commemorative Stamps - Complete Set. All 16 commemorative stamps issued in the year 1971 in unused mint condition. The stamps include: 1971 Ulster Paintings x 3 - This issue featuring paintings by contemporary artists living and working in Belfast marks the "Ulster '71" Festival aimed at tourists and industrialists. 1971 Literary x 3 - Commemorates the 150th Anniversary of the death of John Keats (3p), Bicentenary of the death of Thomas Gray (5p), and Bicentenary of the birth of Sir Walter Scott (7½p). All stamps bear their signatures. 1971 Anniversaries x 3 - This issue commemorates three important anniversaries and the events described on the stamps are Servicemen and Nurse of 1921, Roman Centurian and Rugby, Football of 1871. 1971 Universities x 4 - This continuation of the British Architecture series is devoted to depicting some of our modern University buildings. 1971 Christmas x 3 - The designs are taken from stained-glass windows in Canterbury Cathedral.
