1970s K Yasuma Custom Acoustic Guitar Japan Tokai Yairi

Here for saleis this 1970s vintage K Yasuma Newance Model 230 acoustic guitar. Made in Japan at a time when the japanese manufacturers were frightening the american big boys this is a quality instrument - of that , there is no doubt.

For the quality of build think Tokai Cats Eyes ( some of which were built by Yasuma i believe) and the highly regarded Yairi guitars.

As for the Yasuma guitar company - i believe they were originally furniture makers whom then branched out into instruments, the company folded in the 70s and there are few examples on the market.

From the pictures you can probably guess the guitar is in excellent overall condition, there are a few light indentations to the solid spruce top only visable when angled in the light.

The Yasuma guitars were modelled on Martins hence the similar headstock shape,I would guess the rosewood back and sides are laminate, the top is definately solid spruce and the neck Im unsure but it has a lovely grain to it and is a V profile. The label reads "Yasuma Custom, Hand made by Yasuma musical inst,co, model no 230 Made in Japan"

The guitar plays well, has a good acoustic action , the neck is straight and the strings new.

There is a K Yasuma fansite - google it as its in Japanese and you will need to use the 'translate function' to get it in sort of English.
