About the Florin Coin :

  1. The 2s Coin was an Irish Pre-Decimal coin, designed by Percy Metcalf and was worth 1/10 th of an Irish Pound at the time
  2. The coin was made using CuNi (75% Copper, 25% Nickel)
  3. The Coin featured the Salmon (Fish) on the obverse side, and an Irish harp along with the mintage date,dominated the reverse side
  4. The coin had a diameter of 1.125 inches (28.6 mm) and weight of 11.3 grams.
  5. The last 2s coins were minted in 1968. When the currency was decimalised this coin continued to circulate alongside its replacement ten pence
