1966 Guild D-40 Starfire Acoustic Guitar w/ohsc NICE!!!

This is a Vintage 1966 Guild D-40 Starfire Flattop Acoustic six string guitar with original hardshell case, made in the U.S.A.! Wow, what an amazing guitar! The tone from this vintage Guild is unbelievable! The low ends sound as if they are slightly amplified! Very rich and deep! This one starts off with a finely grained spruce top, fully bound with six layer binding material along with the rosette around the sound hole in multi layered binding! Solid rosewood tailpiece with five of the six original pins including the original bridge. Tortoise guard made to the top! The sides and back are rich mahogany, very solid with a few cracks that have well been taken care of with a cleat or two, no adverse affect! The back is fully bound with three layer binding! The original strap button is on the butt. The top has a slight dip near the sound hole but nothing that affects this beauty. Inside the body is the old tan oval tag that reads, 'Guarantee, This Guild instrument is hereby guaranteed to the original purchaser against defects in workmanship and materials. Model D-40, Serial Number AJ 593, Guild Guitars, Hoboken, NJ, U.S.A.'. The neck is very straight and plays true. The fretboard a fine choice of dark rosewood inlaid with mother-of-pearl dots. The fretboard has minimal wear and the frets have a bit more but plenty of life left to them. This guitar was played and broken in just fine. The neck joint is perfect, no issues, with the original brown plastic strap button. The nut may be replaced, not sure, but works great! The front of the headstock has the original overlay of black vaneer including the original truss rod cover with a shield design and the word, 'Starfire' in raised chrome! The Guild logo is a fine selection of very colorful and pearly mother-of-pearl, slightly raised from the surface to know it the original! The tuning keys are all original with one missing the cover, but the original screw is still attached and a replacement cover can be found right here on good ol' ebay! All tuners are high ratio and work great! The original hardshell case is included, a little ruff and some tolex missing but very sturdy and will protect this fine instrument for years to come! All latches and hinges are present and work fine! The interior is a burnt orange medium shag case lining material. This old Guild has it's bumps and bruises, mostly playing wear, so don't expect a perfect cosmetic guitar but one with a little character! What a great playing and extremely beautiful sounding guitar waiting to track your next hit on the new cd!
