1961 Matchless G12 650cc
This bike is on the road and ready to go. It is well used and tried and tested. It starts very easily on coil ignition and the engine sounds fine with no unusual noises or knocks and no smoke in the exhaust.
It is a very solid and comfortable bike to ride. Superb, steady handling, pulls really well, plenty of beef and sounds fantastic with those famous Matchless megaphone silencers burbling away. The AMC gearbox , as usual, is silky smooth.
Charging system is working well and lights are good. The Smith's 120mph Chronometric speedometer is in good working order. Tyres are both in good condition.
Front brake is good but rear feels a bit wooden and lacking bite.
The engine is very smooth and I was surprised how comfortable this bike is to ride, the seat and riding position are extremely comfortable.
Centre-stand is past its best but remains serviceable, the sidestand is good.
There is a full MOT to May 2009 and historic class (free) road tax valid until 31st July 2008.
There is a V5C document, registration number cannot be transferred to another vehicle.

Cosmetically the bike is very presentable, with excellent stove enamelling on the tank, mudguards and side panels, however, on close inspection the paint-work on the frame is old and has been touched up and even brushed in places. All the tin-ware items are the original steel ones!
The chrome work is also a bit mixed. Excellent on the tank panels and silencers but the wheel rims have dulled, the exhaust down-pipes are in poor condition, but these can be obtained for around £60 pr from Armours. This is a tidy useable bike, not a showpiece but on the other hand it could be brought up a peg or two in condition quite easily.
