1957 June
The cover description reads: "First shoe of its kind to ever devastate a dance floor-a stripling of pink satin, its back a full-blownrose, stemming from the slenderist green stalk of a heel. The effect? As though a little garden had followed you into the party. Cost 14 guineas from Delman
This is a charming magazine with golden evening dresses by Dior (photographed by Tony Armstong Jones), white silk Japanese style dress by Ascher and a Cinderella confection by Balenciaga photographed by Henry Clarke). The fifties at its best.
The advertiements tell of the times too - with stockings evidently still a luxury purchase and swim hats and swim suits in true vintage style.
CONDITION: Very Good
This vintage magazine is 50 years old and is in remarkably good condition throughout. The pages are flat and tight. Check-out the scan of the cover, it is the magazine on offer not a stock photograph, it is fresh and clean and has only one tiny red ink mark on the model's face close to her mouth- it is very minor The spine is intact and square and the pages flat and bright. This mag is still very much giftable and collectable quality.
STILL IN VOGUE has a policy of honesty in the description of the vintage and used magazines we sell. This may work against us in that we draw attention to damage and it sounds much worse than it is. Not all vintage magazine sellers offer individual condition reports so one is left to assume their magazines are all in mint condition. We hope however that you, the buyer, appreciate that we want to supply you with goods that will match or exceed your expectations and not dash them.
POSTAGE: Vogue issues vary in weight enormously so the postal charges reflect the cost. All parcels are sturdily wrapped to prevent damage in the post. All items are posted 1st Class, proof of postage certificate obtained. We post six days a week. Happy to post overseas, please email destination for costs. We do not seek to profit from P&P charges.
