The halfcrown is one of the finest coins to be minted. There were eight halfcrowns to the pound with a face value of two shillings and six pence (2/6d).  Weighing 14 grams it could soon wear a hole in the pocket, but then again all coins were bigger in those days.  Pre 1920 halfcrowns contain 92.5%silver. From 1920 to 1946 the silver content was reduced to 50%, and from 1947 to1967 they were made entirely of cupro-nickel. There are some excellent designs to look out for making them a must for any coin collector the world over.
