The Big honcho himself here at The Den has finally persuaded a friend of his to part with some of his extensive collection of model vintage cars. These white metal and plastic models are mostly the superb quality Signature Models of veteran, vintage and classic cars from the 1900’s to the 1960’s in 1:18 & 1:32 Scale. Most of them are hard to obtain in these scales over here. Hence why the 1stwhitewolf wanted to get his paws on them. Having now merged both collections. He inevitably found that he now was in possession of a number of duplicate models. These “The Great Hoarder Himself” has decided (with some reluctance) to part with. Amongst this part of his collection that is currently coming up for sale are a number of fine models of vintage Cadillac’s & Packard’s Once they are gone they are gone. So do not miss this opportunity to obtain for yourself one of these finely detailed models. Mostly they are new and only been removed from their boxes for photographing and to prepare this catalogue. We try to mention all defects that we see but I am sure, like you yourself, we find there just does not seem enough hours in the day. To do all that should be done. To be human is to err as they say. f f f The year 1955 promised to be a turning point in Packard history. With a bold new Packard Caribbean among its models. Though still with a basic body design that dated from 1948-49 for most of the lineup, designer Richard Teague managed a number of popular contemporary touches. Amongst these were a wrapped windshield, eggcrate grille, giant "V" symbols placed in strategic places. Twin radio antennas, "cathedral" taillights, even a set of "running lights" in the leading edges of the rear fenders. All Packard’s were redesigned for 1955, but the dual hood scoop was unique to the Caribbean. With all this, Packard had a new high performance vehicle to bring to the market place.
A 1954 Caribbean would amble up to 60 mph in 15 seconds and break loose like any other car. The 1955 hit 60 mph from rest in 11.5 seconds and almost floated over the worst possible surfaces, including railroad tracks. At last, president of Packard’s, James J. Nance's had a styling/engineering package that fit his idea of what a Packard should be. Packard was now in a position to take on its competitors Cadillac’s with their long and glitzy vehicles.
The 1955 Caribbean Convertible featured modified side trim, a three-tone paint job, and a sumptuous interior.
For the first time, a Caribbean could look an Eldorado in the eye and beat it in a drag race. f f f This authentically styled replica model of a 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible. Has a delicious White, pink and grey three-tone coachwork body. It has a detailed engine. It also has black rubber tyres with detailed tread, rimmed in white; it also sports opening front doors and boot. Also this model has a detailed interior. Its upholstery is in a delicious white and pink colour, with matching closed hood. Main trim, windscreen mounting, bumpers, radiator grill, wheel hubs, lights, and mirrors are finished in chrome colour For display purposes this graceful model comes on its own plinth with name plaque. Along with its own protective hard plastic dome. In cased in its attractive silver and gold trimmed open front box.
This model is NEW it has only been removed from its packaging to be photographed and for the preparation of this catalogue. The condition of this model is excellent. This delightful model of a 1955 Packard Caribbean Convertible. Measure approximately six inches long by one and three quarters inches high.
