The Velocette MAC is one of the most reliable classic bikes. Velocettes generally were expertly hand built and although a little dated looking, they always perform well. This example is no exception. It starts well and sounds good mechanically, there is no smoke in the exhaust. It is nice and lightweight so the 350cc engine provides quite a sprightly performance. It pulls well through the gears and the gearbox is smooth and positive in operation.

The Miller dynamo is charging OK and all the lights work. Brakes are good and tyres are brand new Avon Speedmasters. The Speedometer is working. The front forks will need new seals before the bike could be ridden as they go down very quickly!

There is an MOT until May 2009 but the bike is not currently taxed. (It is free, historic class)

There is a V5C doc with reg number 770 XUC (There is nothing in the V5C to say this is non transferable)

Cosmetically the bike is sound but old looking. It has a nice "patina" of age (as the antiques traders say). In other words its never going to look brilliant again no matter how much you polished, but on the other hand it looks like a nice 60 year old bike should look! It's down to taste but I think they look really good like this, after all, you can make them look brand new in a few weeks but it takes 60 years to create this effect!
