This unique 165 page wire bound book is compiled from two rare publications 'How To Dress Your Own Hair' 1st edition 1944 and 'How It's Done......Hairstyles For You' 1st edition 1948. Both are now in the public domain.
Plus, we've added another 38 popular hairstyles and genuine detailed make-up instructions from the 1940s (please read the full listing)
There was a time when women learned the art of styling their own hair. On Fridays and Saturdays, female friends and relatives would style each other’s hair-do ready to go out on the town . If you were adept in the skill you would style your own.
Alas, because of convenience in a busy world, women now rely heavily on hairdressers and GHD's.
The skills needed for a 1940s and early 1950s hairstyle (before rollers became popular) were how to do finger waves and pin curls.
This book will teach you through simple instructions and pictures how you can recreate the styles from the 1940's. How to create those pin curls and fingerwaves.
Like all creative skills it does takes practice but the end results are worth it.
This is a re-formatted, re-typed and graphically enhanced wire bound publication. The advantage of being wire bound is that the book will lay flat on a surface while working from it.
As you can see, all the styles use a combination of finger waves & pin curls, simply explained with diagrams and instructions on how & where to place your waves & curls.
