Churchman 1931 PROMINENT GOLFERS (Large)

On sale is 8 out the 12 cards from the highly sought after Prominent Golfers (large) issue by Churchman cigarettes. These 12 larger sized English cards were released in far fewer numbers than their smaller set of 50 counterparts.

Included are: Walter Hagen, Harry Vardon, Joyce Wethered, Abe Mitchell, Fred Robson, C.J.H. Tolley, C.A. Whitcombe & Archie Compston

These cards are exceedingly rare in any condition. Be honest - how often do you see large cards from this set for sale? They are undoubtedly far rarer than 1933 Goudy SPORT KINGS issue.

The C.J.H. Tolley card is an exceptional example and virtually in mint condition. The others, although not up to the same standard, are nonetheless in nice condition. They have a little grubbiness and scuffing but nothing to serious. Harry Vardon has a small crease running upwards from the bottom of the card to his golf club. They have maintained their original colour well and and (in my opinion) the caricatures present as some of the most beautiful golf cards ever produced. Take a look at the scans and you'll see how stunning they are.
