Decorated end papers, monochrome tissue covered frontis illustration, gilt decoration to cover. Gilt to top edge of pages. The Net tells us that: "Anatole France (1844— 1924), was a French poet, journalist, and novelist. He was a successful novelist, with several best-sellers. Ironic and skeptical, he was considered in his day the ideal French man of letters. He won the Nobel prize for Literature." Condition: Cover a bit rubbed, especially to spine covering, rubbing to gilt on front cover, tissue over frontis is only attached for part of length, title page has foxing to edges, foxing to edge of pages, a bit of foxing to pages but generally decent and fairly clean inside.
