These are four interesting coloured vintage postcards from Hakone in Japan during the 1920s.
Hakone is now within the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, 100 kilometres from Tokyo. These postcards are all earlier scenes.
They are as follows;
a) Kowakidani, Hakone, showing the entrance and some buildings of the Mikawaya Hotel. (This hotel was built over 124 years ago on the hillside of Hakone Mountain. Still very popular with celebrities.) Two local men are outside the entrance talking, one with a basic old-fashioned backpack.
b) Miyanoshita at Hakone, looking across to the houses, etc., with mountains, hills, in the background and trees in front.
c) View of Lake-ridge, Hakone., with the roadway through the trees besdie the lake. Some telegraph poles.
d) Dogashima of Hakone, , with thatched building, fast flowing river, trees, etc.
All the cards have Japanese writing printed on them and are in the same series of cards.
Postally unused, but I am led to believe that they were purchased in the area in the 1920s.
All four cards are in very good condition for their gae, with just some minor scuffing on the corners.
Nostalgic memories from Hakone in Japan, from over 80 years ago!
