1919 Gibson A-2 Mandolin Very Clean & Original

We typically only sell guitars that are completely ready to play, however our luthiers are about a year behind on things so we are going to list a few great instruments that just need a little work. This one should be a very easy project for someone. It is a 1919 Gibson A-2 mandolin serial number 51291. This is a very clean, original example. It has no cracks whatsoever. The original finish is very nice and there is only some signs of wear on the sides. The top is clean and of exceptionally wide grained Spruce. It retains all of it's original hardware with the exception of the pickguard which is present, but highly disintegrated. It has the original tuning machines, tailpiece and cover, and one piece bridge. This mandolin only needs minor repairs. The repairs needed are a reglue on the wing of the peghead. This is not a crack, but simply a seam that has come partially unglued. It also needs the brace reglued inside and a new nut. That is it!! So simple even I could almost do it. It comes in an original hardshell case, but it really is a redline case from the 30s. I don't know how it came with this mandolin, but sometimes these instruments sat in stores for years before they were sold. Maybe, when it was sold new this was a period hardshell case.

Like most all of our auctions, we are taking our chances and offering this great guitar with a ridiculously low start price and NO RESERVE.  Who knows what the final price will be, but one thing is for sure--The high bidder will definitely win the auction!!
