Literary Digest was always so much more than its name suggested. Yes, it did book reviews, but it also did current events, the arts, sports – in many ways, it was much more like our contemporary Time or Newsweek than simply a literary digest!
It could hold its head proudly with other journalistic peaks of the period as Century, McClures, Harper's, Hearst's, Cosmopolitan, Scribners, Life, The American, Vanity Fair, and others.
This issue has all of the things listed in blue above, along with regular departments such as Topics of The Day, Foreign comment, Science and Invention, War Time problems, Letters and Art, Religion and Social Service, Reviews, and some of the greatest ads of the time – page after page after page of full pagers meant to appeal to the higher clientèle who subscribed!
The magazine is in good shape, with just expected reading wear.
Most pages have a very light moisture mark which is just cosmetic. No mildew, rippling, smell.
