18thC Revival Carved Oak Blanket Box Chest Coffer

Description:
This is a fine solid oak carved 'fantasy dated' four panel coffer / blanket box / chest of rustic form with classic mortise and tennon dowelled joints.  The coffer stands on classic moulded stile feet having single panels to the sides with plain rails to the front.  There are moulded rails and carved lozenge and floral design panels with a very decorative carved crest rail with a 'fantasy date' of "1714".  The coffer is surmounted by a four panelled top.  The coffer has oak boarding to the base.  A good rustic country piece of furniture.

Date:
The coffer probably dates from the late 19th to early 20th Century.

Condition:
The coffer is in good condition, having some later fitted steel hinges.
