Superb quality and very fine Georgian oil painting; portrait of a scholar in his library. It is typical of an English Gentlemans Library painting - sort of thing hanging in gents clubs throughout St. James's! Oil on original canvas, circa 1775,
canvas measures 14 by 12 inches and framed is 17 by 15 inches. Antique
gilt frame but quite brittle and fragile so we cannot guarantee its safety during transit - although of course every effort will be made to protect and pack it safely. It is lovely quality - look at the books in the background. Typical of the work of Sir Thomas Lawrence or one of his followers from this Georgian period. Selling with no reserve.
