GEORGIAN COPPER ALE MULLER
The Georgians were particularly fond of two things; cheese-on-toast washed down with warm beer (true). After a day out in the freezing cold there is nothing more inviting than a log fire, hot food and a hot drink. Their beer was significantly different, they added spices, particularly cinnamon and cloves and heated it in the embers of the fire in specially designed vessels. Cheap ones were made from thin sheet copper rolled into a slipper shape or 'Asses Ear'.
This example however, is about as good as they get. It is extremely heavy, the copper is cast and is 1/8" thick and has a shaped pouring spout. The beautifully shaped handle is solid brass with a hole for hanging and the two are joined with flush copper rivets. It obviously belonged to a person of wealth and refinement.
It is guaranteed to be 100% genuine and free from repairs or damage and dates from around 1750.
Size: 16" long - 10" deep - 5¼" diameter (40.5cm x 25.5cm x 13cm)
Condition: Excellent - there are a few small nicks in the cone (hot copper is quite soft) which add to it's character, but otherwise it is as good as the day it was made.
