THE
MANOR INN

A TALE OF A LOST IMPRESSION
BY
GEORGE H.R. DABBS, M.D.

LONDON
CHARLES WILLIAM DEACON & CO
1899
FIRST EDITION

This work listed in Hubin as a crime fiction novel was written by George Henry Roque Dabbs 1846-1913, friend and personal physician to the poet Tennyson.

The Preface States:
This story was published serially in Vectis, and is founded on fact. The two horses figuring therein were my own property, and the complete taming of the half-tamed colt in one night-ride is an accurate paraphase of a true incident. The apparently far-fetched idea of the poisoning by graveyard gas is equally veracious. It was my satisfaction to detect a gas-pipe which passed through a churchyard (a disused and forgotten speaking-trumpet from vestry to vicarage), as responsible for a serious condition of blood-poisoning, from accidental injury to the pipe. The Carlist War episodes are also true; and I believe the human vivisectionist (and lethal hypnotist) has lived.
G.H.R.D.
SHANKLIN, I.W
October, 1899.
