Born in 1820 in a village on the Buckinghamshire Bedfordshire
border, John Buckmaster grew up among agricultural labourers and small farmers
at a critical time of England's economic and social history. In this
autobiography he gives an account of his harsh childhood and of his experiences
as an agricultural labourer, carpentry worker, political agent for the Anti-Corn
Law League and eventually as a full-time professional teacher. 334 Pages in total
