Available for purchase is this extremely rare set made by “P.F. Corbin” circa 1895. The pattern is called “Florence” and the set consists of 2 bronze knobs, 1 bronze escutcheon, 1 bronze rosette, 1 stamped bronze keyhole cover, 1 steel mortise lock with bronze faceplate, 1 working key, and 1 spindle with 2 setscrews. Besides the keyhole cover, lock body, spindle, and screws, all bronze parts are solid, heavy cast bronze—not stamped or bronze plated iron.
The pattern is quite vibrant and looks to me like a cross between foliage and fire. All parts were cleaned leaving the patina within the crevices to promote the raised details.
The sets condition is just as extraordinary as its beauty! There are no breaks, cracks, chips, or heavy scratches. The lock was opened, inspected, and greased to operate more smoothly. A key was made especially for it. We could make additional keys for a charge of $5/key. Let us know after the auction if you are interested.
Don’t pass this opportunity by! I’ve seen only the knobs being sold elsewhere for more than we are asking for the whole set!
