A Rare pretty & stunning Prestine Highly ornate Leeds Solid Silver Bowel.
The bowel is designed with swirling scrowels and flowers and leaves .
An elegant beautiful piece with no personal inscriptions
Clearly this bowel have not been used in anger.
The workmanship is stunning and intricate and was made by the illustrious and rare James Henry & Herbet Barraclough. Look at the photos and enlarge.
There is very little ware hence the markings are proud to the base of the bowel.
The bowel is hallmarked Lion Passant ; Crown for Sheffield ; and "a" for 1893.
The Silversmith is marked "JHBHB" for the highly celebrated James Henry & Herbet Barraclough who worked from 1890 to 1923 from their workshop in Leeds.
The base is also marked "Z. Barraclough & Sons Leeds" which suggests that they were also the shop that sold the piece.
In 12 years of collecting I have not seen such wonderful condition or this very rare Leeds piece.
The condition is superb for the age with no dings or repairs and all designs in fine fettle. Look at the photos .
The original giding is still fine inside the bowel, please look at the photos.
The total weight is an amazing 179 grams or 6.28 oz
The dimensions are diameter 120 mm and height 85 mm.
In all, a beautiful and elegant ornate bowel of superb high quality , rare manufacturer which would enhance any collection or just put on show.
