1881 Vellum Indenture between EUSTACE GREG of ASHBURTON COTTAGE, PUTNEY HEATH in SURREY, EMILY GREG his wife on the one part, and TYNDALL BRIGHT, CHARLES EDWARD BRIGHT and REGINALD BRIGHT carrying on business at LIVERPOOL and BRISTOL as Merchants and co-Partners in the Firm of GIBBS, BRIGHT & Co. A second page of flimsy paper (some faults) is attached and signed at base by W.McARTHUR as LORD MAYOR OF LONDON advising he has seen the parties sign the deeds. This second document has 4 stamps inscribed JUSTICE ROOM (3 x two shillings and one for a shilling, all pen cancelled with 'X' mark) as well as a blue one perfinned to document MAYORS COURT for 9/6d - these I have never seen before. The document extinguishes Mrs GREG's right of dower in certain hereditaments in the island of JAMAICA. The vellum indenture measures c. 18 x 10" and is too large to scan but I have done the best I can with it. SOCIAL HISTORY.
