ANTIQUE BLOWN GLASS DECANTER

DIMENSIONS :- 8.3/4" HIGH X 1" TOP DIAMETER, 1/2" HIGH X 2.1/4" DIAMETER FOOTRING

This very fine late 19th century blown glass carafe/decanter was most probably made in Stourport in the West Midlands, the other possibility is that it could have been made in Ireland although even with the solid base it is not very heavy.Made from clear glass it is blown in a spiral form that becomes thinner and tighter as it travels up the neck making a very attractive pattern especially when the light shines through. Shaped with a long, straight, cylindrical neck that gradually curves out into a round body that sits on a domed and folded footring.The stopper is made from silver coloured metal with a central loop and ring on the top and a cork inner held with a small nut and bolt, there is a possibility that this may not be the original top however there is no sign that there was ever a glass stopper as the neck is totally unmarked.This is a fabulous decanter that looks wonderful filled with port or sherry as the colour really shows off the design.This would look elegant on anybodys table and would make a great addition to any home especially with the festive season just round the corner.Check out my other items!and be sure to add me to your favourites list!
