This is the very scarce first edition of a work by Dr. Thomas Michael Dolan 1844 -1907 physician to the Halifax Fever Hospital , a special report published by The Medical Press and Circular with the aim of advancing scientific inquiry as to the nature of Rabies or Hydrophobia, and to present the medical profession and the public with the latest state of their knowledge on the subject ,written at a time when rabies caused much fear in Great Britain. This work contains general statistics of cases since the year 1800, with conclusions from those statistics, morbid anatomy and pathology, etiology and symptoms of rabies, incubation, frequency of transmission and other kindred subjects, curative treatment, preservative treatment, preventive treatment, curiosities of treatment and literature, a synopsis of rabies in animals, historical and bibliographical information, geographical distribution of the disease, a chronological table illustrating outbreaks of rabies in England since the year 1270, and a bibliography of works from 1546 to 1874. 287 Pages including index, plus a 32 page publishers catalogue of mostly medical books in rear dated 1878.
