ILAM
ANASTATIC SOCIETY THE VOLUME
Anastatic printing was a method, related to lithography, of producing facsimiles of drawings, which required the original to be drawn in an oil based ink. The process was not taken up widely on a commercial basis, it was mainly used by amateurs. This volume contains 36 plates printed by this process published for the Ilam Drawing Society, a group established for the purpose of collecting amateur drawings illustrating objects of antiquarian and historical interest. Each plate is followed by a page of descriptive text.
