From a box of disbound (not by me!) Victorian Encyclopedia - Circa 1868
A finely detailed print from Wood or steel engraving entitled :-
' GAS MANUFACTURE '
It shows :- A general layout for a gasworks (shown in cross section so as to see the inner workings) - the various parts are not named on the print but include :- Retorts, dip pipes, refrigeration pipes, scrubbers, condensers, exhausters, purifier, Gas holder, Governor etc
The scan is of a previous print I have had, and the one here is CLEANER and more neatly TRIMMED - I have just used an older scan to save time
The print measures overall 230 x 145 mm (9 x 5.75 ") approx.
CONDITION
It is on good quality paper with a blank reverse, and in good condition (unless otherwise mentioned in the main body of this description) with a little fading around the edges of borders not affecting the print.
Sometimes there are binding holes and witness marks which will be visible in the scan - if in doubt please ask for a jpeg to view closer
