A first edition of Sleeman's Rambles and Recollections of an Indian Official.

Bound in red cloth with gilt lettering and decoration.

First edition.

With Lucie Smith's armorial nameplate on the front pastedown.

Bound by Westleys & Clark of London.

With A. J. Combridge & Co booksellers label.

Frontispiece for volume one missing, otherwise complete.

Sir William Henry Sleeman (1788 - 1856) was a British soldier and administrator in India.

CONDITION

The binding is firm. There is wear to the extremities, including bumping and rubbing with some fading as shown. Internally the pages are bright with some intermittent mild spotting. The first couple of pages of volume two are detached but could be readily reattached. Overall the condition is good.
