INSECT MISCELLANIES WITH ILLUSTRATIONS LONDON
This work is not dated and has no author noted, it is an 1840s edition of a work written by James Rennie 1787-1867 the Scottish naturalist, Professor of Natural History and Zoology at Kings College London and natural history author who emigrated to Australia in 1840. Written in 4 sections covering : The Senses of Insects, Their Food, Their Social and Domestic Habits and The Collection and Preservation of Insects. 432 Pages in total with 120 in text illustrations. This volume is from library of Cliveden the stately house in Buckinghamshire once the home of the Astors where scandalous orgies involving war minister John Profumo, a Russian embassy official and Swinging Sixties girls Christine Keeler and Mandy Rice-Davies contributed to the defeat of the Macmillan government.
On the fixed front endpaper is the library book label of Nancy Astor 1879-1964 the American born British political and social leader, the first woman to hold a seat in Parliament.
