1839 Super chatty content Entire Letter headed ex CHRISTIANIA (no writer's name but written to his uncle ARTHUR HOME DRUMMOND, BLAIRDRUMMOND in STIRLINGSHIRE, filing note at left 'Norway August 18th') from young man evidently touring Europe and showing a fair strike of Unframed 2/line SHIP LETTER/NEWCASTLE U TYNE top left on Obverse but light green ink is difficult to see as some of the lettering showing through to outer. This is a really RARE Ship Letter and I'd guess a fine full example would be in the £500 range despite it being a major port. There is a fine oval framed ALTONA SCHIFFS-BRIEF and boxed KIOBENH datetamp both on Reverse. 'We went to NEWCASTLE by the CHEVY CHASE (coach) in the middle of the most dreadful rain I ever saw.....boarded the JOHN WOOD steamer....HAMBURG is a very pretty town...it was in a very great state of excitement at the races.....we then started at 6 a.m. in a ROYAL MAIL DILIGENCE (coach) belong to his Majesty of DENMARK which we then proceeded to KIEL where we boarded the FREDERICK VI steamer for COPENHAGEN....HOLSTEIN is flat as a table top' and much more interesting reading inside.               MARITIME, DENMARK, COACHING.                        DONT FORGET TO HAVE A LOOK AT OUR OTHER EBAY LOTS AND EBAY SHOP - MORE ADDED REGULARLY.
