1822

Colonel James Gardiner 1687-1745 Captain of Dragoons.
He fought with the Duke of Marlborough's army against the French at the battle of Ramillies in 1706, and later served in different Dragoon Regiments. He fought under Sir John Cope at the disastrous engagement with the Jacobites at Prestonpan and was killed by the Highlanders while trying to rally his fleeing Dragoons.
This biography was written by the English nonconformist minister and hymn writer Phillip Doddridge 1702-1751.

CONDITION
19th century binding with leather spine and marbled boards, binding is worn with cracks to hinges, pages have some browning and foxing.
Size is 6¼ by 3½ inches.
