This work written for the entertainment and education of French children by Marie Elisabeth de La Fite1737-1794 the German-born author, translator and governess is a collection of  stories and moral dramas set in the conversations between a mother, Madame de Valcour, her daughter Julie and her niece Annette.

4 Small volumes with a total of 873 pages plus 20 full page engravings illustrating the tales.
 The first volume includes a 2 page dedication to Queen Charlotte of England.

Condition
Early 19th century bindings with leather spines and corners, marbled boards and marbled endpapers. Bindings are worn with some loss of leather, hinges are weak and glue strengthened, some foxing to most pages, 2 volumes have damp stains to a few pages and plates, all complete.
Size of each volume 5½ by 3½ inches
