Offered for sale is this exquisite Victorian, 1800's, mourning hair brooch. A charming piece of memorial jewellery.
The brooch is worked with tablework mourning hair. Mounted to a gold pin and hinge, with further engraved and black enamelled initial, looks like a H?
This is just one of several items of fine antique mourning hair jewellery, being listed this week. They came from a small collection of similar jewelley.
The brooch measures 1 & 1/2 inches across approx.
Condition is very good, hairwork appears in super condition, apart from one length which on very close inspection is frayed at one end. This is very hard to notice, but has been mentioned for TOTAL accuracy. A couple of small holes to the hairwork at the reverse, again minor but noted. Finally a small missing area of black enamel, again when viewed with an eyeglass. Working pin and 'c' catch are present and also in good working order. A superb example.
